Yacht news

Here are the first shots of Swan Shadow cruising in the crystal waters of Porto Cervo while the Swan Sardinia Challenge is taking place.Swan Shadow is the first Nautor’s Swan motor boat. The new model is a multipurpose motor yacht concept able to reach a performance of up to 55 knots top speed. The design of Shadow incorporates features that customers might generally expect to see in larger full-custom or semi-custom yachts, features that are not too common in 40-foot powerboats. One of these features is a movable aft platform, transforming a visually simple design from a fixed platform to a swim platform or a passarelle. The interior styling follows the timeless and classic style of Nautor’s Swan interiors, representing a pared-down design and simplified approach that focuses on the essentials: carefully designed and well-executed spaces created using top quality materials.Nautor’s Swan was founded in 1966 in Pietarsaari, Finland. The builder entered the superyacht market in 1999. Since then, the yard has continued building high-performance sailing yachts in three different lines; ClubSwan, Swan Yachts and Maxi Swan Yachts. Credits: Nautor’s Swan

Just a week after securing yet another order for a DOM 133, hull no.10244, Baglietto has announced the sale of hull no. 10243. By selling the third DOM 133, which the shipyard had started building on speculation, Baglietto has reached sales number four of this model, pencilled by Stefano Inglese Vafiadis.“For a DOM 133, the fact that four hulls have been sold in just a matter of weeks is an unprecedented success, although, perhaps, not a surprising one, considering what it stems from: extraordinary volumes for a yacht of this size, modern and captivating lines, and a layout leaving no market needs unmet – all “ingredients’ that make the DOM 133 just the ideal cruiser,” says Fabio Ermetto, Baglietto’s CCO. The DOM 133 can offer her guests a beach club on two levels, where the infinity pool lifting bottom can rise to make the already spacious cockpit even larger; panoramic windows that open up to become terraces; the possibility to install a lift; and, not least of all, a limited draught allowing it to easily cruise even in the shallow waters of the Bahamas.Like previous models, this unit – to be delivered in 2023 – comes with two Caterpillar C32 engines that will push her to an impressive maximum speed of 17 knots. The shipyard recently started building a fifth twin on speculation, which will be fitted with standard hybrid propulsion and be ready for delivery in 2024.Baglietto Spa is Italian boat builder based in La Spezia and specializes in the construction of new aluminum light alloy yachts ranging between 35m and 50m in length and steel and light aluminum alloy displacement mega-yachts starting 40m.Credits: Baglietto

Sirena Yachts announced the delivery of the third and fourth hulls of the Sirena 88. At 26.8m in length overall with accommodation for up to ten guests, the Sirena 88 is the Turkish brand’s largest model with naval architecture by German Frers and interior design by Cor D. Rover. The third hull has been delivered to a Canadian owner and the fourth hull to the owner from Spain. “We’re known for our high level of customisation, but this is especially the case with the Sirena 88, which we see as a step into superyacht territory and is mostly built to the clients’ specs,” says Ali Onger, Chief Commercial Officer at Sirena Marine. “It’s about as close to a custom build as you can get in a series boat.” The Canadian owner lives on board for up to seven months each year cruising the Bahamas and the Caribbean, which meant he had some very specific technical and lifestyle requests. For example, for redundancy purposes the yacht is fitted with both stabilisation fins as well as a Seakeeper gyro; all the pumps have been doubled up for the same reason; the hydraulic capacity has been increased to accommodate larger stern and bow thrusters; and the engine room is air-conditioned. Moreover, an extra fuel tank was added to increase the cruising range at 10 knots to over 4,000nm.The advanced naval architecture by German Frers is enhanced by high-tech resin infusion construction and generous use of carbon fibre to reduce weight and optimise the vertical and longitudinal centres of gravity. The Sirena 88 performs at both planing and displacement speeds comfortably and economically. The interior of the Sirena 88 by Dutch designer Cor D Rover is based on a warm and inviting ‘feel at home’ atmosphere, but also provides an exclusive feeling of relaxed enjoyment with top-end materials, luxurious fabrics and soft carpets in natural tones with accents of bright colours. In terms of creature comforts on board, the owner chose the standard five cabin layout but further requested a custom bar unit in the main salon complete with dedicated wine coolers, and another bar/galley unit on the fly deck that includes a Wolf BBQ. “Eight units of the Sirena 88 have been sold to date and others are under negotiation,” says Ali Onger. “Like other boat builders, we saw some initial production delays due to Covid-19, mostly associated with the difficulties experienced by suppliers, but this has been more than compensated by the increase in enquiries since the start of the pandemic.” Sirena Yachts is a Turkish yacht brand. The company produces semi-displacement motor yachts ranging from 17m to over 30m.Credits: Sirena Yachts

Tankoa has unveiled its new Linea Sportiva by Luca Dini. The first model in the new dynamic series is the Sportiva 55 rated at under 500GT. “At Tankoa we always try to think of new products that can meet the ever-changing needs of customers in our market segment,” says Tankoa CEO, Vincenzo Poerio. “With this in mind, we met various designers to exchange ideas and views on new products. With Luca Dini we found an immediate harmony of ideas that became concrete a few months later with the first concept of the Sportiva 55: it was love at first sight!” Considerable real estate is devoted to the beach club, which is actually more of a main deck cockpit and comprises a swimming pool sunk into the terraced aft deck with access to a spa zone on the lower deck complete with gym and sauna, as well as a side-loading garage for water toys. The main deck layout is asymmetrical with a circular dining area connecting the open aft deck and main salon, but where the master stateroom begins it is full-beam to port with a walkway to starboard with a built-in chaise longue and hot tub as well as a private sauna. The guest accommodation on the lower deck consists of four ensuite cabins, although a five cabins version has already been developed. Unusually, there is also a central staircase leading from the owner’s personal foredeck to the forward bridge deck which is designed to be used as an open-air cinema when at anchor. The bridge deck has a sky lounge, an extendable table for al fresco dining and lounging space on the aft deck. The sun deck is partially shaded by the hard top and features a wet bar by the forward hot tub and plenty of sun lounging space. “The sleek, thoroughbred exterior lines of the 55m Sportiva express the yacht’s sporty nature reflected in the ‘tails’ of the upper deck overhangs and the automotive-inspired bow section,” says Luca Dini. “The style is rigorous yet timeless and deliberately contrasts with a layout designed for informal contemporary living.”With a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, the Sportiva 55 has a top speed of 16.5 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots. Her range at an economic speed of 12 knots is 3,800nm.Although the 55 is closest to the needs of Tankoa's current client base, the shipyard also asked Luca Dini to retain the same family feeling in a fast, 45m all-aluminium version and scale it up to a larger and more comfortable 65m proposal.Tankoa was founded in 2007 and began production in 2008. A true “boutique shipyard”, focused on building semi-custom and custom constructions 45-meter and up.Credits: Tankoa
