The Wave e-550 is the first model from the Italo-Spanish shipyard Magonis. She made its world debut in May at the Venice Boat Show 2021. The shipyard, with its headquarters in Barcelona and production site in Sabaudia, Italy, has drawn on the different influences of the two countries. Catalan creativity and exuberance have been combined with Italian taste and technology to create a boat that, in its 5.50m length (4.96 m at waterline) and 1.98m width, has all the perfect comforts for an enjoyable day cruise, be it sailing on Lake Garda (with all routes permitted, including the ones on the upper lake, forbidden to traditional motorboats), in the sea of Capri or a quick crossing from Ibiza to Formentera. The layout of the deck spaces is based on the bowrider style, resulting in a bow area that can be transformed in an instant from a cosy dinette into an equally usable sunbed. In the cockpit, comfortable seating and a protective windscreen ensure comfortable and safe navigation for up to six passengers. Standard equipment includes a 4kg stainless steel dolphin striker and anchor, a bathing ladder with four large steps, four designer stainless steel cleats. Stainless steel is used for the forward rail and windscreen uprights. There are plenty of optional features: telescopic table, full teak deck, refrigerator, shower, anti-theft device and an 8 sq m XXL awning supported by carbon uprights.Magonis Wave e-550 has a number of solutions that are not usually found on boats of this size, starting with the instrumentation, which has been replaced by a suitably waterproofed 13" iPad that owners can carry with them at all times. There is also a dedicated slot for charging smartphones, while music is provided by a 120 W Fusion system. With a depth of just 0.30 m, it is possible to venture almost to the shore in complete silence thanks to the electric propulsion.In terms of performances: Magonis Wave e-550 has maximum speed of 22 knots and a range of 12 hours at cruising speed. The displacement of 335 kg highlights the vacuum infusion construction of the exclusive Light X Pro technology, developed by the Magonis team of engineers and designers. Motorisation, strictly outboard, comes in the shape of two authentic icons of electric propulsion: the Torqeedo Cruise from 4 to 10 kW (approximately the equivalent of 20 hp), or the new Mag Power 18.0 and 30.0, 18 and 30 kW respectively. The former (with a power of around 40 hp) guarantees the aforementioned speed of 22 knots, the latter a top speed of 16 knots.Prices range from 33,485 Euro with the Torqeedo Cruise 4.0 RL to 68,900 Euro with the Mag Power 30.0, all including VAT.Magonis is an electric boats manufacturer with headquarters in Barcelona, Spain, and shipyard in Sabaudia, Italy. A new European office is now open in Port Adriano – Mallorca, one of the leading yacht harbours in the West Med.A Silent 55 and Silent 64 are docked in front of the office, ready to take clients to the sea for a test drive. All sailors want to go faster and the larger the boats, the more luxury is demanded. Project Fury is a collaboration between Rob Doyle Design and Van Geest Design. The genesis of Project Fury is high performance, fanatical weight reduction and going full beam on the main deck to maximize interior volume. Currently on the market, a 60m to 63m sailing yacht will have a Gross Tonnage of 500GT max. Creators are pushing 705GT with this design (40% more) and this gives the owner a real gauge of the amount of space they are getting with this new generation of performance sailing yacht.The envelope of Project Fury is defined by these principles and has resulted in an unique sailing yacht in all its aspects.The yacht has aluminium hull and carbon fibre in the superstructure. A drop-down prop running on a DC bus diesel electric system and a swing keel performance centreboard, that acts as a long keel when up for motoring, give good directional stability and damping when at anchor. The idea of this project is to offer huge performance gains with an alloy hull and have race boat foils and rig package but still have a safe /clean deck that is client friendly.As the concept progressed it became apparent that yacht performance and onboard energy management were two areas which are highly interlinked. Creating a yacht with extremely high performance over a wide wind band has given the opportunity to explore energy recovery from the propulsion system, which influences the energy storage and generator system capacity and performance. By taking unnecessary equipment off the boat (that has somehow got onto every superyacht and makes them expensive and complicated machines), creators have simplified the systems. Having seen developments in the round the world racing yachts where sailors are navigating fully inside and well protected and the other extreme of latest Americas Cup developments Rob Doyle Design and Van Geest Design came up with the general layout and workings of this concept. As the yachts are getting wider the deck spaces are also growing. The designation of functional areas is becoming an important factor. Areas for sailing and controlling the yacht are designed to be situated apart from the leisure areas. This will result in a safer circulation and environment for all on board.The interior space on this yacht is unlike any other yacht of similar length on the market that can also sail fast. The main lobby is the transition area from the owner’s stateroom to the 130 sq. m salon. A breakfast area and lounge are set in the large open space with full height, deck to deck, windows giving ample light and 270-degree views to the outside. The 95 sq. m master suite is located on the main deck. With its full beam forward glass looking down on the bow, it is something that has not been seen on any sailing yacht and creates an amazing connection to the outside private spaces. Its entrance houses the office. The stateroom and office feature large hull windows and balconies for full appreciation of the outdoors.The foredeck is all flush. Two large tender bays can contain two 7m tenders which can be launched by hydraulic crane. The tender bays can be converted to pool(s). The owner can have private access to this area from the stateroom.The lower deck aft has a large bay to store sports equipment like surfboards, sea bobs as well as all required dive equipment. The aft transom deck has an integrated transformer swimming platform. Forward of these areas is an extensive engine room space. Twodouble guest cabins and two VIP cabins are situated in the middle of this deck. The new Dolceriva with hard top has a timeless beauty in every sense, because it will never lose its shine over the years and is also immune to the weather thanks to the top with carbon fibre detailing that shelters the entire central relaxation areas from the sun and rain. This Riva creation is a 48-foot open motor yacht conceived from bow to stern to offer unrivalled on-board comfort. Born from the collaboration between Officina Italiana Design, the firm led by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta that has designed the entire Riva fleet for over 25 years, the Ferretti Group Engineering Department, and the Product Strategy Committee, Dolceriva is 14.92m long with a full beam of 4.26m.The originality of the exterior design derives from a blend of Riva’s trademark elegance with the latest trends in runabout design, such as an automotive-inspired vibe and a sportier interpretation of the idea of luxury. The hull window design stems from a complex research process by Officina Italiana Design: generated by a black pencil stroke along the silver side of the yacht, it deftly ascends towards the deck. This stylistic solution has led to an original and innovative hull-deck coupling system: the aft area, totally freed from the fender bar, features a carbon-fibre air vent with a steel frame. One of the great strengths and novelties of this open yacht makes an important contribution to liveability: the brand new hard top made from a carbon-vinyl ester hybrid composite material to ensure the lightweight, strength and stiffness needed to ensure that Dolceriva retains a sporty personality. The hard top is designed to cover the entire external cockpit and helm station perfectly, with the possibility of closing off the entire area beneath using transparent awnings on either side, forward and even aft. Several sections of the hard top are made of steel not only to increase its strength, but also to enhance the structure and design. An air conditioning system can also be installed inside to create a liveable closed area even when the temperature outside is very high. All materials used for Dolceriva's interiors are perfectly in keeping with the Riva style, with fine woods, mirrored surfaces, leather elements, and steel and lacquered woods with both matt and glossy finishes.Dolceriva features a V-Drive shaft line propulsion system and mounts twin Volvo Penta D13 engines, each rated 1,000 mhp at 2,400 rpm (optional). The pandemic boosted luxury yacht sales. Denison Yachting reports that the first quarter of 2021 reveals a significant increase in yacht sales across international, United States, and Florida markets. By the end of 2020, Denison experienced one of its best years in terms of yacht sales, charters booked, and marketing goals and is still riding that wave into 2021. In 2020, Denison sold 83 superyachts, with an annual growth of over 13%. In the first quarter of 2021, Denison sold over 40 superyachts, surpassing 2018, 2019, and 2020, respectively.“Our industry is still riding the great wave of 2020,” commented Bob Denison. “Our first quarter numbers set new records for us organizationally across all revenue categories.”The yachting industry is gaining momentum around the world.
