Yacht news

On April 29th, Benetti launched from Livorno yacht Hawa. A 48-meter yacht tailor-made for her owner, touches water for the first time. The yacht, built with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, was designed in collaboration with the famous English studio RWD, who penned the exterior and interior design. The owner, a loyal Benetti customer, passionate about boating and with a great deal of experience behind him, declared himself very satisfied with the result obtained and recognized the shipyard for its excellent know-how and the manufacturing capacity in completing the project with his input in careful consideration.Hawa stands out for the elegant "desert sand" hull color, chosen by the owner, and the original layout which prioritizes continuous contact with the environment. The use of refined furnishing elements and materials is striking, in particular the matte painted eucalyptus with dark walnut details and inlays of various leathers and marbles. She can accommodate ten people in five cabins and nine crew members. The main deck enjoys incredible brightness, thanks to a lounge with five openings to the outside that allow continuous views of the sea. On the same deck, toward the bow, instead of the traditional galley, the owner asked to have a pantry and a large VIP cabin with shower with sauna that precedes the large master cabin, full beam and with drop down side windows. Here the space was designed with a private study for the owner, bed, two wardrobes on the port side and a lounge area with bathroom to the starboard. The lower deck houses three double cabins for guests, as well as the galley, equipped with a dumbwaiter that allows the crew to serve all decks, including the sun deck. The beach area has two side openings that deploy into platforms, overlooking the sea and adding to the considerable beach area. The aft part of the upper deck is designed for convivial moments in the open air, with areas for relaxation, conversation and sunbathing. Inside the bright sky lounge with two large opening side windows, there is a pantry, a complete gym, also with opening side windows, and the wheelhouse with full-height windows covering 180°.The hull, designed by the P.L.A.N.A. studio in collaboration with the Azimut Benetti Research and Development department, ensures high performance and excellent seaworthiness for safe and comfortable navigation. The engine room houses a pair of MTUs of 1,268 kW each, which guarantee the yacht a maximum speed of 15.5 knots and a range of 4,000 nautical miles at the 10 knot cruising speed. This superyacht is set to be delivered in the summer of 2021. Founded in 1873, Benetti is the oldest Italian shipyard specializing in luxury yachts. Benetti designs, builds and sells composite vessels from 29 to 44m and steel and aluminium boats from 37 to over 100m. The fleet consists of five categories: Class, Oasis, B.Yond, B.Now and Custom to meet all the needs of the market. Project Gemini is the second yacht sold by Heesen in Spring 2021. Arcon Yachts introduced the client and is supervising and project managing the construction of the yacht. Project Gemini’s construction was started as a speculative venture, the latest yacht in Heesen’s successful program to provide time-poor clients with shorter delivery times on a selection of superyachts built. By beginning the build with an optimized engineering and construction schedule before the client steps in, Heesen can undertake to deliver a product on a defined date. Depending on the stage at which the client joins the process, the yacht can be customized to suit his individual taste and lifestyle. Project Gemini immediately grabbed the attention of her new owners. Negotiations and a sales agreement were soon concluded. The 55m Steel class yacht's exterior was made by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects. The concept’s design excellence is more than skin-deep: beneath the waterline lies an ultra-efficient Fast Displacement Hull Form, the latest iteration of van Oossanen’s patented, low-drag design. With two IMO III-compliant MTU 8V 4000 M63 engines, Project Gemini will achieve a top speed of 15.5 knots, with a trans-oceanic range of 4,500 nautical miles at 13 knots.Twelve guests will be accommodated on board in six staterooms – four guest cabins can be found on the lower deck, and there is a private VIP cabin on the bridge deck. The full beam owner’s apartment is located forward on the main deck. The elegant interior is made by Luca Dini Design and Architecture. This is the first time when a renowned Italian studio has partnered with Heesen.“We were glad that our proposed interiors for Gemini found such immediate favour with the client, so close to the delivery date – this doesn’t always happen with a speculative build!” says Luca Dini. “But we still had time to tailor the details to the client’s needs, especially with regard to the choice of freestanding furniture, fabrics and craftsmanship. The result is stunning. It was a pleasing outcome for everyone.”Project Gemini will be delivered to her owners at the end of October 2022 and will be part of the exclusive Arcon Yachts charter fleet.“We are delighted to work with Heesen on yet another exciting project. We have been impressed by the flexibility of the shipyard in accommodating the client’s requests, and have enjoyed working with Heesen’s new CCO, Friso Visser, and his experienced team,” comments Konstantin Kolpakov of Arcon Yachts. Heesen Yachts is a Dutch ship building company that specializes in custom-built superyachts in aluminium and steel from 30m to 70m in size. Founded in 1978, it has launched more than 170 yachts since its inception.Credits: Heesen Yachts

Lürssen has announced the successful launching of project 13800. The 55m was built for an experienced owner, who had a clear idea for his future vessel.
