PETALING JAYA: The government has allowed some individual or non-contact sports and recreational activities to resume beginning tomorrow.
This includes jogging, brisk walking, cycling, and two-person sports such as tennis, badminton and table-tennis, golf and gym activities, two-wheel and four-wheel motor sports, and individual training for group sports such as football, sepak takraw, basketball, futsal and hockey.
Senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob reminded sports and recreation facility operators to not allow any walk-in visitors to avoid overcrowding, saying “only bookings are allowed”.
For gymnasiums, the capacity must be capped at 30% with physical distancing between visitors observed.

“Every equipment must be sanitised after every use,” he said at a press conference today, adding that visitors were not allowed to use the locker room and bathroom facilities.
Similarly for golf, the locker room and bathroom facilities were not allowed. He added only sports areas such as the golf course will be open to visitors. The clubhouse will remain closed.
The government has also allowed recreational fishing activities, driving schools and flight training institutes to restart.
For recreational fishing activities, Ismail said fishing ponds and boats will be allowed to resume operations from 8am until 10pm with strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) in place.

Pond owners and boat operators must be registered with the local authorities and Fisheries Department before resuming operations.
“For boat operators, the capacity must be capped at 50%,” he said, adding that boat operators must have a valid boat licence as well.
For driving schools, driving tests and lessons are allowed to resume with strict SOPs.
He said that aside from staff and instructors, only related driving candidates are allowed in the school premises.
Driving schools are allowed to operate from 7.30am until 8.30pm, he added.
For flight training institutions, he said, the directive includes administration at the Approved Training Organisation (ATO) such as the Type Rating Training Organization (TRTO), Flying Training Organisation (FTO) and Flying Club – Instruction in Flying (FC-IIF).
He said mandatory repetitive training administration to accommodate civil aviation operations is permitted for pilots, aviation engineers, air traffic controllers, cabin crews, security staff and operators.
